There are a couple places to go to get your poster printed on campus:
 +
*[https://www.itst.ucsb.edu/PosterPrinterEsmeralda.html ITST], located in a portable building behind a bike rack and next to Broida Hall, is the most accessible place to get your poster printed. Poster printing is on a first come, first serve basis, so try to get there as early as possible. There's always a chance they'll run out of paper. The printing room is to your left upon entering the portable building. There is a computer towards the far end of the small room. There should be instructions on the wall in front of the computer for logging in with your fund number and the number and size of poster you need. Plan on bringing your poster with you in both pdf and PowerPoint. Plug your flash drive into the PC below the desk and drag your documents onto the desktop. Open your preferred document to make sure it appears alright and follow the instructions on the wall to select the appropriate printer. If you need any assistance, the staff there is usually very nice and will help you get started.
 +
*The printer at [https://www.cnsi.ucsb.edu/support/technical/poster-printer CNSI] is a little harder to get to but most of the same deal applies there. They are located in 3204 Elings Hall, which is tucked away past the Courtyard Cafe on the 217 side of campus down a bamboo lined courtyard. When you get to the CNSI, you may have to go down the hall a bit to find the person in charge of the printer, but they will help get you set up and ready to print. You should be able to print a practice sheet on regular paper if you haven't already, just to make sure your dimensions are correct.

Please note that most printers have a maximum width (due to paper size) of 36".

Below are the requirements for AGU conferences posters as stated by their website for the AGU conference to be held in December 2017. Additional USGS requirements can be downloaded here.

Note: Poster presenters may contact the Fall Meeting Poster Printing Service for details about how to have their posters created and printed. Attendees who submitted and paid through the Copy Central site may pick up their posters at the Poster Printing Services in the convention center. Copy Central can also assist with on-site printing needs. At least 24 hours are needed for on-site orders.

Prepare Your Poster

  • Each presenter is provided with a 4-foot-high by 6-foot-wide poster board. Poster boards have a 2.5 cm (1-inch) frame. *Dimensions of the useable work area are 1.2 meters high by 1.8 meters wide (4′ high x 6′ wide).
  • The presentation must cover the material as cited in the abstract
  • Place the title of your paper and your paper number prominently at the top of the poster board to allow viewers to identify your paper
  • Highlight the authors’ names and contact information in case the viewer is interested in more information
  • Prepare diagrams or charts legibly in a size sufficient to be read at a distance of 2 meters.
  • Paragraph and figure captions should be at least in a 24-point font (0.9 cm height) and headers at least in a 36-point font (1.2 cm height). Be creative by using different font sizes and styles, perhaps even color
  • When working with graphs or charts, use different colors and textures/symbols for each line or bar. A serif font (e.g., Times) is often easier for reading main text, and a non-serif font (e.g., Arial or Helvetica) is legible for headers and figure labels
  • Organize the presentation so it is clear, orderly, and self-explanatory
  • Use squares, rectangles, circles, etc., to group similar ideas. Avoid cluttering your poster with too much text. Label different elements as I, II, III; or 1, 2, 3; or A, B, C, making it easier for a viewer to follow your display
  • Include the background of your research followed by results and conclusions. A successful poster presentation depends on how well you convey information to an interested audience
  • Please do not laminate your poster to ensure that it can be recycled

ePOSTERS

The Presenting Author of all posters will receive an email the week of 18 November with instructions for uploading your ePoster. This is an optional feature enabling people to view and discuss your poster before, during, and after the meeting. Note: Only the Presenting Author of a poster abstract will have access to upload files.

Campus Poster Printing

There are a couple places to go to get your poster printed on campus:

  • ITST, located in a portable building behind a bike rack and next to Broida Hall, is the most accessible place to get your poster printed.
  • The printer at CNSI is a little harder to get to but most of the same deal applies there.
